~DISCOUNTS ON SHOPPING~

Once again I have my sister to thank for passing along what I feel is very valuable information. I am always looking for a good deal and new ways to save money. This is especially the case now as the economy declines and the prices on goods continue to rise. I have a great website to pass along called ebates. You join for free and every time you go through this site and shop you save money either in the form of cash back or money saving coupons. Among the sites included are Old Navy, Gap, Kohls, Walmart, Kmart, Dell, Circuit City, Target, Disney and many many more. I am actually shocked at how many stores and/or sites they have. I certainly have become a big fan of online shopping. Saving the gas money alone is reason enough to sit in your PJ's and shop online. This makes it even more exciting because now I can go to this site first and save more money while I shop. Oh and by the way, if you refer others they give you a $5 incentive and you only need to have $5.01 in your account (excluding referrals) in order for them to send you your cash back check. Not bad huh? So go check it out and be sure to sign up for FREE HERE. Pass It Along- and make more $$$!!

~SMELL THE FIRE~

When you venture to the store to purchase a scented plug-in, the only thing you are expecting is to add a fresh scent to your home and the last thing on your mind is FIRE. Well, I recently reviewed information that allegedly came from an insurance investigator who was perplexed as to what caused a house fire. You might have received this email as well. The information states that after determining the fire originated in the bathroom, the only thing that the homeowners could attest to having plugged in was a Glade Plug-In. According to the information, the investigator said he has seen many house fires that start in this fashion and he would never use any plug-in fragrance device. Upon researching this further, I found that this is not the necessarily the case. There have been several voluntary recalls made by the CPSC, and invoked by the manufacturer, involving Glade Plug-ins and many reports of fires that could be associated. However, these fires could also be attributed to faulty electrical wiring. There is no conclusive data that leads to a determination that scented plug-ins are any more hazardous than any other electrical device. You can check this out for yourself at snopes and the CPSC. I suppose this is yet another circumstance in which you must decide for yourself if this product makes you personally uncomfortable. Educating yourself is always the best bet. Pass It along!!

~GEARED UP TO PROTECT~

Are you a police officer, security professional, or military personnel looking for an easy and convenient way to purchase your gear? If so, I have found the site for you. LA Police Gear was started by LA police officers and has great options for everyone. In fact, contrary to the name, you do not have to be a police officer to shop on this site. LA Police Gear sells to the general public. I personally like the fact that you can purchase pepper spray, which I feel every woman should carry with her. Their prices are reasonable and you have many products and brands to choose from. Currently they are featuring a Blackhawk Holster which offers a discount of over $10. Customer incentives include free shipping and products (hats & travel mugs) upon reaching certain order requirements. I have the utmost respect for those who choose to dedicate their lives to protecting us. I applaud a site that is geared towards those heroes and provides them with the gear that is necessary to successfully perform their job. Be sure to check them out and pass it along! ~CELL PHONE DANGER~

My sister recently sent me some shocking information that really opened my eyes to the possible danger of using a cell phone while it is plugged in (charging). There have allegedly been injuries and even deaths from electrical surges that can cause fires and electrocution. Along with this information was attached some disturbing pictures of a young mans hand and bed, where he was using his phone while plugged in, after he was electrocuted by a surge. Upon further investigation there is nothing conclusive as to whether this has/can actually occur. However, according to snopes there have been several incidences of injuries and fires due to faulty cell phone batteries. In most cases because the battery was not the correct one for the phone. This information certainly shocked me and I would have never thought this could possibly occur. Pass It Along!!

~POISON-PROOF YOUR HOME~

I recently received information from the state that gave directions on getting my sons birth certificate. Included in the envelope was some staggering statistics on poison hazards in the home. What I found most shocking is that everyday more than 500 calls are received by the Florida Poison Information Centers. Even more disturbing is the fact that 60% of the calls involve infants and toddlers. In this information was a list of common poison exposures including:

*Household cleaners
*Prescription medication
*Household & garden plants
*Pesticides & insecticides
*Gasoline & petroleum products
*Vitamins with Iron
*Pain killers
*Cosmetics
*Alcohol & products containing alcohol
*Snake, spider bites & insect stings
*Chemicals & chemical fumes
*Cough & cold medications

If anyone in your family is exposed to any of these hazards, call your Florida Poison Information Center at 1-800-222-1222. The advice will be given by an expert and kept confidential. You can also request a free emergency phone sticker and additional info. I called and left my information on their line so that I can get additional information which I will post here. Pass It Along!
